Rochon is a native of her home in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance and is her parents being Zelma, a nurse practitioner as well as Samuel Staples, a business owner and graphic artist. She graduated in 1982 of Cerritos High School, located in Cerritos, California. Rochon received a diploma in broadcast journalism from California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in 1986. Heather developed and hosts the travel-themed show on YouTube called Drive Yourself Local where she gives local tales of living in the small town while traveling across America using her classic 1965 Ford Mustang. Ullerup was seen as Julia Brynn for the first appearance in Battlestar Galactica: The Remake which aired in 2006 Sci Fi Channel. The actress played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary show on television in the first and second seasons until it was canceled. She was the subject of heated discussion amongst people who wanted her return in future shows. However, Sanctuary was ended in 2012. In 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup appeared as Maggie Thomas the estranged husband of Michael Thomas. Since 2016, Ullerup is seen in a frequent character in the role of Dale Travers in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films series.
